And to boot, she thinks that actresses like Jennifer Lopez had a big influence on the kind of roles Hollywood would be willing to accept for stars like Salma Hayek in the future. SUPERSTAR Jennifer Lopez returns to the silver screen with The Back-Up Plan, her first major release in five years. In the romantic comedy, she plays bumbling beauty Zoe, who meets Stan (Alex O’Loughlin), the man of her dreams after she has undergone a successful artificial insemination procedure. Below is a Q&A with the star.
What did you like about the script?
J.Lo:It was edgy and very funny. Kate Angelo, who wrote the script, just had a baby and you could tell in the writing. We fought with the director and producers to put in as much gross pregnancy stuff as possible.
How do you perceive your character in the movie and how do you relate to her? J.Lo:Zoe is strong, brave and independent but she didn’t grow up with a family. I grew up with lots of love, that’s why I also need it and rely on more people. But Zoe is different. She is strong enough to decide on having kids on her own. I don’t think I could do that.
Zoe changed from working in the corporate world to owning a pet store? J.Lo: I guess she didn’t enjoy being in the corporate world anymore and wanted her life to have a purpose. I think Zoe is always searching for love, and having the store and her pet dog Nuts helped her.
Nuts is a very cute dog. J.Lo:We had three dogs — one was good at walking, the other was good at faces and the last one had other talents. But they were all great at putting Nuts together.
Tell us about Alex O’Loughlin as Stan. J.Lo:Alex’s great for the character because he has a cocky charming attitude. He knows how to transmit the feeling that Zoe is the one, yet at the same time have confidence and even a slight arrogance.
What is it like to work with Alex? J.Lo:He’s awesome! He reminded me of myself when I started — with that vivaciousness that is so pleasant to be around. It was his first romantic comedy and there was a freshness about him that’s great. He’s a good guy and he has a bit of an edge, which is something I like. I loved working with him and he is good at what he does.
Did you both get to improvise during the shoot? J.Lo:Yes, we played around a lot, especially in the more physical scenes.
What do you believe makes a good romantic comedy? J.Lo:It’s all about the journey. We know how they start and how they end, so it’s the meat in the middle that matters. A romantic comedy has to be funny and make you think about life but the obstacle that has to be overcome is key. I like The Back-Up Plan because that obstacle isn’t typical. And, chemistry is very important too.

Jennifer Lopez Unsure About Expanding Brood Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony can’t decide whether to expand their family further, it has been claimed.
The couple have two-year-old twins Max and Emme, while Marc also has three other children from previous relationships. While Latin singer Marc is keen to have more kids with his superstar wife, Jennifer is happy with their family situation as it is.
She enjoys being a mother and feels she is busy enough balancing her career with raising the twins.
“Jennifer adores all her and Marc’s kids, but finds being a mom very tiring. She doesn’t know if she could cope with another child,” a source told the National Enquirer magazine.
The 40-year-old beauty is also believed to be reluctant to get pregnant again too soon because she worked so hard to shift her post pregnancy pounds. Jennifer gained a lot of weight while she was pregnant with the twins and is enjoying showing off her newly slim body.
“She loves children and always imagined she’d have a big family. But she has no desire to gain weight again – especially as she struggled so badly to lose the 50 pounds she put on last time.
“In any case, she is enjoying feeling sexy again and looking great when she goes out on the town.”

In an interview with Larry King, Jennifer Lopez brushed off rumor mentioning she and Tom Cruise are going to join 'Dancing with the Stars'.
Jennifer Lopez has laughed off rumors she and Tom Cruise are set to join "Dancing with the Stars" next year - insisting they are both too "busy" to take part. The TV competition came to an end last month, with The Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger lifting the trophy, and rumors about who will appear in the next season have already begun.
Producers are said to be courting several big names to join the line-up, and Lopez and Cruise are the latest stars to have been linked to the show following their dance skit together at the recent MTV Movie Awards.
But Lopez is adamant they will both be too tied up next year to contemplate a stint in the TV contest. She tells U.S. newsman Larry King, "I think we're both kind of busy to go on Dancing with the Stars. He's (got), I'm sure, 25 movies lined up, and I'm planning a tour for next year, so I don't know."
