Jennifer Lopez signs deal to become new 'American Idol' judge Jennifer Lopez has inked a deal to join American Idol‘s judging panel for its upcoming 10th season, an industry source tells People. The news dropped just hours after Ellen DeGeneres confirmed her exit from the show, despite having only served one year of a reported multi-season deal.
Lopez served as an Idol mentor on Latin night during the show’s sixth season, garnering generally positive reviews for her warm, candid style, and her ability to extract a not entirely terrible performance of “Bsame Mucho” from widely maligned contestant Sanjaya Malakar.
A Fox spokesperson declined to comment on the reported deal with Lopez. Calls and emails to Fremantle Media, American Idol spokespersons, and Lopez’s reps were not immediately returned.

Drawing an end to a fun-filled south of the border family getaway, Jennifer Lopez and hubby Marc Anthony were spotted arriving back to Los Angeles, California on Monday afternoon (July 26).

The singer was billed to perform at the opening of new hotel complex Cratos Premium in the Turkish Cypriot part of the popular tourist destination on 24 July, the same day as the 36th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of the European island.
Her decision to stage the show was slammed by officials at the Cyprus Action Network of America, and Lopez subsequently withdrew from the gig.
But it could cost her dearly – the chief executive of the Turkish company which runs the hotel is threatening to go to court to claim damages of up to $40 million.
Boss Murat Bozoglu says, “The contract has not been terminated. If she does not show up for the concert, we will begin a procedure in the courts to claim 35-40 million dollars in damages.
“The cancellation… is not covered by any clause in the contract she signed with us.”

The singer was billed to perform at the opening of new hotel complex Cratos Premium in the Turkish Cypriot part of the populartourist destination on 20 July. But she’s scrapped the show after learning it coincides with a day islanders would rather forget, insisting she would never have agreed to the concert in the first place if she knew about the history and relevance of the date.
A representative tells TMZ.com, “After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of management to withdraw from the appearance. This was a team decision that reflects our sensitivity to the political realities of the region.”
Previously, officials at the Cyprus Action Network of America started a campaign calling on Lopez to scrap the gig as it falls on the anniversary of the date that Turkish troops invaded the Greek-owned island in 1974.

A letter of petition from the Cyprus Action Network of America reads, “It is with dismay and shock that the people of Cyprus and especially the Greek Cypriot women in the Republic of Cyprus and elsewhere in the world heard the news that you intend to attend the inauguration of a hotel in the occupied by Turkey (sic) part of our native country.
“The Turks go to a great length to secure support from people like you in order to promote their political ambitions and objectives. Does your charitable work and status permit you to give credibility to Turkish rapists, thieves, invaders, occupiers of our stolen properties?”

When two hot superstars collide, the result could be “Dynamite.” Taio Cruz and Jennifer Lopez are set to team up for a new music video and remix that’s sure to be fire.
It all started when Taio Cruz tweeted and then subsequently removed, “Would you guys prefer a ‘Dynamite’ video featuring just me or a version with a massive female star duetting?”
If the answer is Jennifer Lopez, then yes. Lopez, who recently killed performances at the World Music Awards and the MTV Movie Awards, became the female star in question, after some dancers leaked out the info that they were cast in a music video for Cruz and his new Island/Def Jam labelmate Lopez.
Choreographers and frequent Lopez collaborators Napoleon and Tabitha, or Nappytabs, also let out that they’re set to work on Lopez’s new video.
The track is Cruz’s single “Dynamite,” which is already #3 on iTunes behind Eminem and Katy Perry’s latest. Cruz will release a Part 2 of the already chart-busting single featuring Lopez.
“Dynamite” is the latest single from Cruz’s album “Rokstarr,” which features collaborations with Ludacris and Ke$ha. Lopez is set to release her highly anticipated new album later this year.
