Jennifer Lopez Pulls a Leno on George Lopez
Maybe Conan should simply change his surname to Leno.
Jennifer Lopez surprised the audience at the start of Lopez Tonight on Monday when she stepped out on stage instead of usual host George Lopez to deliver her own little monologue. "Welcome to Lopez Tonight, where nobody gets fired. They just get replaced by a bigger star with the same last name," she joked (we think).
But the jabs by J.Lo didn't stop there…
She also pointed out that a bar in New York has created a cocktail in honor of Conan called the "Go-Back-to-Manhattan"…It's a Manhattan with sour grapes and a knife in it."
And the hits just kept on comin'! "NBC is thinking about changing the NBC peacock to a cougar, since they are trying to attract young people to an old host," she teased about Leno.
But she didn't stop at NBC's roster. "Some women don't like the expression 'cougar,' but it's better than what guys get, right? An older guy who dates a younger girl, that's called a 'Letterman.' "
While the other Lopez eventually did come out to relieve her, we couldn't help but think maybe Jenny from the Block should get her own late-night show.

Jennifer Lopez Joins the Fight Against Pertussis in New PSAs
Singer, actress and mother teams up with the March of Dimes and sanofi pasteur to launch national whooping cough education campaign. While most parents can’t wait to hear their baby’s first babbles and coos, there’s a first sound that actress, singer and mother Jennifer Lopez is betting no parents ever want to hear – the sound of their baby with pertussis, more commonly known as whooping cough. Ms. Lopez has joined the March of Dimes and sanofi pasteur, the vaccines division of the sanofi-aventis Group, to create a national public awareness campaign called “Sounds of Pertussis.”
The new initiative focuses on educating new parents and their families about pertussis, a highly contagious and potentially deadly disease for infants. The campaign’s centerpiece is a series of television and radio public service announcements (PSAs) featuring Ms. Lopez that are available in both English and Spanish. The PSAs, scheduled to begin airing nationally this month, encourage new and expectant parents to help protect their babies by making sure that anyone who is, or will be, in close contact with a young infant has been vaccinated against pertussis.
“When I learned that many babies who get pertussis catch it from their parents, and how easy it is for adults to get vaccinated, I was shocked,” said Ms. Lopez. “New and expectant parents have so many things to worry about. Getting pertussis themselves, or possibly spreading the disease to their own children, shouldn’t be one of them. I felt it was urgent to let parents know how important it is that they get vaccinated against pertussis to protect themselves and to help keep their babies safe from this dangerous disease,” she added.
Pertussis Makes a Comeback
Between 2000-2003 and 2004-2007, there was a 100 percent increase in reported cases of pertussis. Estimates indicate that there may be as many as 800,000 to 3.3 million total adult and adolescent cases of pertussis in any given year.
Pertussis is highly contagious and is caused by bacteria which are spread through airborne droplets from the nose and throat. So a cough, sneeze or even talking very close could lead to exposure. In adults, symptoms are usually milder than those found in infants, and pertussis is often mistaken for the common cold or bronchitis. In infants and some adults, pertussis causes severe coughing characterized by the unforgettable “whoop” sound made when gasping for breath after a coughing fit. It creates a sticky, thick mucous that makes it difficult to eat, drink and breathe. The coughing fits can be so violent that infants cannot catch their breath and may turn blue. Pertussis can also lead to other serious complications such as pneumonia, which can require hospitalization. In recent years, 90 percent of pertussis deaths have occurred in infants younger than four months of age.
Because Hispanic babies may be at a higher risk for contracting pertussis, and the risk of dying from pertussis may be higher in Hispanic infants than in non-Hispanic infants, the program is being implemented as a bilingual educational initiative.
“We’re very pleased to be working with Ms. Lopez and sanofi pasteur on a campaign that continues the March of Dimes’ tradition of championing the health of all babies,” said Alan R. Fleischman, M.D., senior vice president and medical director for the March of Dimes. “Pertussis is still prevalent in the U.S. despite routine childhood immunization. Educating parents about the importance of vaccinating themselves and their families to reduce their risk of contracting pertussis and possibly spreading this dangerous disease to infants is an important step in trying to reverse this trend.”
Protecting Against Pertussis
While most infants are given routine diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis (DTaP) immunizations, they do not begin the primary series until they are two months of age and may not be fully protected until they have completed their primary series of vaccinations with three or four doses. During this time, they are vulnerable to pertussis.
Accordingly, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all adults and adolescents 11-64 years of age, especially those who have close contact with an infant, be immunized with a tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis (Tdap) booster. The CDC also recommends that new mothers get the Tdap vaccination in the immediate postpartum period to protect themselves from pertussis and reduce the risk for exposing their infants to the disease.
Adults who received vaccinations when they were children may mistakenly believe that they are still protected against pertussis, but immunity wears off over 5 to 10 years, leaving them vulnerable to contracting and spreading the disease. Continue reading here.

Taking care to stay in good health, Jennifer Lopez was spotted paying a visit to her doctor’s office in Beverly Hills yesterday (January 14).

In related news, J. Lo told press that while her “Back-Up Plan” character utilized artificial insemination to get pregnant, she decided against it in real life.

Scott Barnes Talks His New Beauty Book 'About Face' and Celebrity Makeovers
Beauty is about a lot more then having great cheekbones, according to makeup artist Scott Barnes.
In his just released book "About Face: Amazing Transformations Using The Secrets of the Top Celebrity Makeup Artist,"Scott Barnes gives makeovers to 20 different women including celebrities Jennifer Lopez, Mariska Hargitay and Kim Kardashian."The message is most importantly about the power to transform yourself," the designer told StyleList. "It's about beauty for purpose, as opposed to beauty for vanity sake."
After years of working with famous clients, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Julianne Moore, Penelope Cruz and just about every other A-lister out there, Barnes began seriously examining the idea of what beauty meant to him, which eventually led to the book.
"I started thinking about how some people use their beauty in a positive way to help others around them and to give something back," Barnes explained.
"All of the women in this book are using their beauty as a powerful source to help others," says Barnes. Celeb causes include Mariska Hargitay's work with the Joyful Heart Foundation, Jennifer Lopez's involvement with the Children's Hospital and Kim Kardashian's work with the Dream Foundation.
"Beauty is about what fuels you," says Barnes. "You possess all of these amazing qualities and it is important to make you the best version of yourself."

Worst Actresses Working Today: 2010 Edition
It’s a new decade, time to look at who are the worst actresses currently working today.
Due to the hugely popular “Worst Actresses Working Today” list I did back in 2006, I thought it was time to revisit this list. I haven’t really looked at the list much since I originally published it. Upon looking over it again, I noticed how many of those actors are not as relevant as they used to be and the current list doesn’t feature many of those actors. Young Hollywood shall be scaring us for years to come.
10. Renee Zellweger – After hitting it big in the first half of the ’00’s, Zellweger’s marginal talent caught up with and according to IMDB she starred in four movies, not that you would remember any of them. Zellweger’s learning that squinting and acting cute won’t keep you around forever.
Best Role of the Decade: Chicago
Worst Role of the Decade: New In Town
9. Jennifer Lopez – Returning to our #9 spot, Lopez didn’t have a hit film for the entire decade. Looking at her filmography, it’s hard to pick just one movie she failed to impress with. There are just so many.
Best Role of the Decade: The Cell
Worst Role of the Decade: Gigli
8. Malin Akeman – This Swedish beauty is slowing making a name for herself in Hollywood as one of the blandest actresses working today. Virtually unmemorable in every film she did until catching a break in 2009’s The Watchmen, Akeman should remain blight on cinema for years to come.
Best Role of the Decade: Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle
Worst Role of the Decade: The Heartbreak Kid
7. Cameron Diaz – Diaz started the decade with strong performances in Vanilla Sky and Gangs of New York before finishing the decade in sub-par romantic comedies. What is it about Shrek that takes the worst actress and makes something good? It’s the highlight of the careers of Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz.
Best Role of the Decade: Vanilla Sky
Worst Role of the Decade: The Box
6. Sarah Jessica Parker – Parker’s filmography is a collection of embarrassments and disappointments. After a successful run on Sex and the City (thanks largely to a great cast), Parker has starred in largely forgettable movies where she always portrays the uppity bitch forced into an uncomfortable situation with largely unfunny results.
Best Role of the Decade: Sex and the City
Worst Role of the Decade: The Family Stone
5. Heather Graham – Who needs talent when you’ve got big boobs and you’re willing to show them? Graham has made a career out displaying her…um…talents on screen. Wide eyed and bland, watching Graham on screen is like watching adorable paint dry.
Best Role of the Decade: From Hell
Worst Role of the Decade: Miss Conception
4. Diane Keaton – The once great Keaton is now the female version of her Godfather co-star Al Pacino. Playing the post-menopausal mother that gets her groove back for the better part of the decade; Keaton gives the same tired performance in every film.
Best Role of the Decade: Something’s Gotta Give
Worst Role of the Decade: Because I Said So
3. Scarlett Johansson – I love Hollywood. Only there can you be marginally talented and super hot and make tons of money. Johansson used to do interesting role but has now started to believe her own hype, now just looks pouty on screen. Look for her bland it up in Iron Man 2 this summer.
Best Role of the Decade: Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Worst Role of the Decade: The Island
2. Kristen Stewart – For such a young career she’s remained virtually unknown until she got to mope around with sparkly vampires in Twilight. Overnight she went from forgettable brunette in random role to the inspiration to emo girls all over the world.
Best Role of the Decade: Adventureland
Worst Role of the Decade: Twilight
1. Megan Fox – Muse to Michael Bay, Fox has shot to the top of the list overnight. Unknown when the first list was written in 2006, she has worked hard to be known as a first class bitch behind the scenes. On screen, she has the charisma of dirt.
Best Role of the Decade: Transformers
Worst Role of the Decade: Jennifer’s Body

J.Lo expects to still perform at 71
Superstar Jennifer Lopez has no plans to step out of the limelight when she hits retirement age - insisting she'll still be singing and dancing in her seventies.
The Jenny From The Block hitmaker has taken two years out of her hectic work schedule to take care of her twins, Max and Emme, with husband Marc Anthony.
But the star is ready to get back to work - and the 40-year-old insists she'll be in showbusiness for the next 30 years. She tells America's Elle, "I'll be doing some form of this when I'm 71. This is what I do. What, because I have kids and a husband I'm not supposed to be me? I'm hyper J.Lo.

Jennifer Lopez Says Her Faith Stopped Her From 'Messing' With IVF Jennifer Lopez stars in the upcoming movie "The Back-Up Plan" about a woman who conceives twins using artificial insemination.
But Lopez told Elle magazine in their February issue that she decided to forgo in vitro fertilization treatments while trying to get pregnant herself. “I … believe in God and I have a lot of faith in that, so I just felt like you don’t mess with things like that,” she told Elle. “And I guess deep down I really felt like either this is not going to happen for me or it is. You know what I mean? And if it is, it will. And if it’s not, it’s not going to.”
Lopez, 40, ended up having fraternal twins Emme and Max in 2008 through natural methods.
However the pop princess’s opinion that IVF is “messing” with God has irked some who underwent IVF to have children. “She’s saying that if you deal with fertility issues then it’s because God doesn’t want you to have children and that’s offensive. In reality, if God didn’t want you to have kids then he wouldn’t have these opportunities available,” Jennifer Katz, who underwent IVF treatment in 2007, told Pop Tarts. “It’s not ‘messing’ or intruding in God’s plan, you go after things in life that you want and don’t sit back and wait for things to happen. God helps those who help themselves.”
Jerome Ballard, whose wife had IVF, said their decision to turn to reproductive assistance only made their faith stronger. “I am Catholic, but I believe in life if you want something, you have to make it happen yourself regardless of whether you believe in God,” he said. “We had faith in what we were doing, and IVF was there to help us.”
Numerous blogs have also attacked Lopez over her comments. However, two IVF proponents contacted by Pop Tarts stand by Lopez’s right to her opinion and principles.
“I can't speak about her personal choices, but I think that we live in an era of reproductive freedom and everybody is welcome to reproduce in whatever way they wish,” fertility specialist Arthur Wisot of Reproductive Partners in Southern California told Tarts. “If (Jennifer Lopez) isn't accepting it, then it may impair her ability to have children in the future, but it's based on her own moral and ethical principles.”
The American Fertility Association also stood by the starlet.
"[Jennifer Lopez] has stated that she would never consider in-vitro fertilization as an option since she is a traditionalist,” an AFA rep said. “We at the American Fertility Association, support Jennifer Lopez's right to not use in-vitro fertilization or any other form of assisted reproduction in the creation of her family, just as we also support another person's right to use this same technology."

Jennifer Lopez’s Heartfelt Shopping Spree
Dropping some of her plentiful cash, Jennifer Lopez stepped out for a shopping spree in South Beach on Friday afternoon (January 8).
The “Do It Well” singer was decked out in an oversized white t-shirt with a large red heart as she shopped with family at local boutique shops - gracefully posing with tourists from Italy for a holiday snap before taking off in an old and dirty silver Honda CRV.
Meanwhile, Miss Lopez recently expressed her appreciation for fuller figure ladies while chatting with the NY Post, saying, “It’s true I could serve coffee using my rear as a ledge, but I’m proud of my butt.”
The 40-year-old adds, “A dress shouldn’t look like a coat hanger. Skinny girls miss out.”

Jennifer Lopez prefers being a natural mother
Pop diva Jennifer Lopez prefers following tradition when it comes to family life and is against the usage of any artificial processes to become a mother.
Although many stars have turned to scientific methods to conceive, the 'Maid In Manhattan' star never considered it an option and said she never will, Elle magazine reported. "When it comes to family and relationships, I'm quite traditional just because of the way I was raised. I also believe in God and I have a lot of faith in that, so I just felt like you don't mess with things like that," said Lopez.
The 40-year-old star plays a woman who decides to have a baby through artificial insemination in the upcoming romantic comedy, 'The Back-Up Plan'.
But Lopez, who is mother to 22-month-old twins Max and Emme with husband Marc Anthony, insisted that she would rather resign to her fate than try this way.
"I guess deep down, I really felt like either this is not going to happen for me or it is. You know what I mean? And if it is, it will. And if it's not, it's not going to," said Lopez.

The singer revealed her previous failed marriages to Ojani Noa and Cris Judd have helped her value her marriage to Marc Anthony. "What people don''t talk about, which is interesting to me, is how you have to put as much work into your relationships as you do into anything else," People magazine quoted her as telling Latina magazine. "We put so much into our careers ... but there''s also a lot of work that goes into making a successful partnership and marriage. It''s not easy," she added.
The 40-year-old star further said: "That''s how I know that this relationship is worth it, because a lot of people walk away too easily. But to take that step and actually get married - and I''ve done it three times, and two times were, you know, not good for me or for them - I''m gonna take it seriously."

"It's their responsibility to ... see everything that's out there, everything that could be great," says Lopez. "It is a little bit frustrating." Despite the grievous injustice, J.Lo's dreams of an Oscar haven't been crushed. Says Lopez: "I have the utmost faith and no doubt that it will [happen] one day."
